Zealous perseverance
IPW Tuesday January 22th 2008

The next International Praise and Worship will be held on January 22nd in the Basement from 12.30 till 13.30. We start preparing at 12.00.

How to get to the basement?

You enter the main building, at your left hand you see the reception. You pass the reception and turn to the left. Walk straight on and at your left hand you immediately see the VU bookstore (VU Boekhandel). Keep the VU bookstore at your left hand and then you see a red door straight in front of you. Go through the red door and take the stairs down. Then you will hear the praises at 12.30 or us practice between 12.00 en 12.30.

Zealous perseverance.

God has made heaven and earth. He made the stars in the heavens and the seasons of the year. He has ordered them all well. Today we pray that his peace and order may abound in the lives of all men. ´May all the earth give you worship and praise, and break into song to your name, O God most high´. (Psalm 66).

Zealous perseverance should mark all Christian work, founded in hope. Christian hope lies in what our Lord carried out in the eternal order of his sacrifice. He has not only entered the heavenly sanctuary, but entered as the forerunner of his brothers.´The Lord will remember his covenant forever.´ (Psalm 111). ´God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them. We want each of you to show this same diligence to the very end, in order to make your hope sure. We do not want you to become lazy, but to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised. When God made his promise to Abraham, since there was no one greater for him to swear by, he swore by himself, saying, "I will surely bless you and give you many descendants." And so after waiting patiently, Abraham received what was promised. Men swear by someone greater than themselves, and the oath confirms what is said and puts an end to all argument. Because God wanted to make the unchanging nature of his purpose very clear to the heirs of what was promised, he confirmed it with an oath. God did this so that, by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled to take hold of the hope offered to us may be greatly encouraged. We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain, where Jesus, who went before us, has entered on our behalf. He has become a high priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek. (Hebrews, 6: 10-20).
